Mark is available for concerts, session work, and live performances. He has also assisted other artist in developing musical arrangements, compositions over the past year. He plays acoustic and electric guitars with style and finesse. His unique approach to playing is differnt than most and refreshing.
When the Pandemic occured he took time to revisit his roots and worked on playing guitar, piano, and bass guitar. He played piano years ago when he was younger and becuase there were very few opportunities for live performances during the Covid-19 outbreak it was a great time to get back on the keyboards.
Mark began seriously playing bass guitar about five years ago at local places of worship throughout the DMV. Intially he was subbing for other bassist, but in time he was moved into a on call position. He had time to practice with the help of a talented blind bassist John Hyman as mentor to build his chops on 4, 5 and 6 string bass guitar. Mark is consistantly working to grow and improve as an artist and with his expereince and talent he is perfect for your project or engagement.
Cosine fronted by Mark and Edward Brooks is currently on hiatis. However, there is always a possibility that the group will reconvene for future projects. So stay tuned and with their combined flare for latin, funk, and soulful jazz style music new ideas are bound to turn up.
Elements of Cosine (EOC) is a unique project of Mark Brooks. The band is comprised of a talented blend of exceptional musicians. EOC was developed to allow Mark the opportunity to experiment with progressive music, rhythms and challenging musical arrangements. It is our hope to deliver a message that "we come to play". We know we are a little different in that we don't play the same cover songs as everyone else, but that was the objective to bring something fresh and different to the forefront. We want to excite you, and take you on a musical journey.
